EASTERN VOLLEYBALL SQUAD GETS BACK TO ACTION
RICHMOND, Ky. - Following a 10 day lay-off, the Eastern Kentucky University volleyball team will get back into action this weekend as it travels to Murray State and Tennessee-Martin. The Colonels will visit Murray State Friday in an 8:00 PM EST match before heading to Tennessee-Martin on Saturday to take on the Skyhawks in a 3:00 PM EST contest.
Eastern is currently 2-16 overall and 2-9 in the Ohio Valley Conference and is in eighth place in the conference standings. Remaining on the schedule for the Colonels are seven OVC contests and a matchup with the University of Louisville. This season, only the top six teams will qualify for the OVC Tournament. Head coach Lori Duncan remains optimistic about the Colonels chances of playing beyond the regular season.
"We have seven matches remaining (not including Louisville)," said Duncan. "I told the team that I expect us to go 6-1, 7-0 or 5-2 in those last seven matches. Our next three matches are against Murray State, Tennessee-Martin and Tennessee State. We should win at least two of those matches, maybe all three. If we take care of business, we could end up in the top six. We have everything we could ask for - opportunity."
The Colonels will return home October 27th for a 7:00 PM EST match with Morehead State. They will close out the OVC schedule at home with contests against Tennessee State (Friday, October 30th, 7:00 PM EST) and Austin Peay (Saturday, October 31st, 2:00 PM EST).
