RICHMOND, Ky.-Eastern Kentucky University's Courtney Bowen was named to the 1999 pre-season Ohio Valley Conference Volleyball Second Team. Bowen and 13 others on the pre-season list were voted upon by the league's head coaches.

Bowen, a 5-10 junior outside hitter, led Eastern in kills (3.3 pg. and digs 2.9 pg.) last season and was second on the team in hitting percentage at .194. She won the 1998 team award for Best Defensive Player and was a member of the All-OVC Newcomer Team for '98. Bowen also managed to play in all 85 games for EKU last year.

"Courtney (Bowen) is an outstanding player and all-conference material. Avoiding injury, there is no doubt in my mind that Courtney, along with others on the team, will earn all-conference status this season," said EKU head coach Lori Duncan.

EKU opens its 1999 season Sept. 1 at the University of Kentucky.
