EKU WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL TEAM HITS THE ROAD AGAIN

RICHMOND, Ky. - Eastern Kentucky University, 8-12 overall, 3-5 in the OVC, began a four-match road trip with a visit to Evansville this past Tuesday that halted the Colonels' four-match winning streak. EKU plays at Austin Peay Friday night, at Tennessee State Saturday afternoon and at Morehead State Tuesday night.

This past Tuesday night in Evansville, IN, Eastern was defeated by the Aces 3-0 (9-15,10-15,16-18). Both Courtney Bowen and Courtney Huyser had team highs with 11 kills during the match. Becky Galati led the team in digs with 11.

EKU head coach Lori Duncan feels as if being on the road has taken its toll on such a young team.

"Being such a young team, we are still struggling with being away from home. When playing at Eastern, our routine is very regimented, which works to our advantage," Duncan said. "Traveling, just like playing, is a skill that needs to be practiced. Right now we are working on maintaining a strong focus even when our normal routine is altered. With time, it will come as second nature to the team."

Eastern returns home Oct. 30 and Oct. 31 for matches with Southeast Missouri and Eastern Illinois, respectively.
